Travel is a personal choice and deciding to travel is always your option to decide on. We should always remember that governments and politics, anywhere in the world, are always changing and are challenging. Also, the media is not always your friend. The following is my thoughts and how I look at travel in challenging times such as these. I, for one, do not stay at home glued to my television, I never have. However, here are some tidbits for you, as a traveler, to think about.
What’s happening in the world, and should you cancel your trip to Greece, France, Germany, that Mediterranean cruise or river cruise, and start researching backyard staycations ---taking us all back to 2020? Short answer. No. You’re still good to go. Let’s Talk Travel Even When the Headlines Get Loud! Here’s what you really need to know. Travel is still safe and fully operational across nearly every destination. The affected areas are very specific. Think southern Lebanon, Israel, and regions near Iran or U.S. military bases. Those countries on the Do Not Go list are countries none of us would think about traveling to anyhow. There is no credible or widespread threat impacting global travel right now. We are not recommending cancellations or major reroutes unless your plans involve active conflict zones. Your comfort level matters. If you want to shift your plans, we’ll help you. If you didn't use our company....well you are on your own. Consider this a PSA from me. State Department advisories are worth reading, but they are often issued with a wide diplomatic brush. They don’t always reflect what’s really happening on the ground. Also, remember that the media is not always your friend. We use multiple sources of intelligence to form a clearer and more balanced perspective. Situational awareness is always a smart travel tool. Stay alert. Avoid large crowds. Maybe leave the American flag t-shirt or cap at home this year. And yes, always get travel insurance. If you need a reputable recommendation, ask for our recommendations and a list of agencies to check out. Now for a little personal note to set your mind more at ease.. I’m still traveling. I’m still aware. And I’m not putting my passport away anytime soon. I didn't put it away the last time major disruptions occured, and they do from time to time, still. The world is still open. Still beautiful. Still full of wonder. The beach calls, the sand is warm. Mountains and snow will be upon us soon, once again..skiing,snowboarding and the like will fill our thoughts. If you’re feeling unsure or just want to talk it out, I’m here. Let’s keep moving forward with calm, confidence, and clarity. Share
